Africa, a continent.

I've checked your work and all of you have written or implied that Africa is a country. Africa is a continent, not a country. There are a lot of countries in Africa.

Some countries in Africa are extremely rich so it is wrong to write that Africa is poor. Only some countries in Africa are in poverty, not all of them. If you write Africa is poor or people in Africa are poor, you are saying all of the people in Africa are poor. Please remember that.

Differences of poverty in Africa and poverty in Brunei

Have you ever gone to school? Do you have clean shoes and new clothes? If you answer yes to both questions, appreciate them because many poor African children want to go to school, and want to have clean shoes and new clothes.

There isn't much poverty in Brunei than in Africa. Some of them in Africa do not have a home and a bed to sleep in, sometimes they sleep outside on the ground. We are lucky to have food everyday. Do you know why our parents are angry when we waste our food? Because in Africa, people need it, so don't ever waste food again.

Who says Brunei is not famous, not fun but Bruneians are so lucky that we do not have much poverty and we are richer than the people from the poorer parts of Africa. You don't want to be in poverty, right? Just be grateful of what we have, don't waste it and appreciate it.

Poverty in Africa VS Poverty in Brunei

There are 24 hours in a day and 60 minutes in an hour. However, how many people die during that time because of poverty? We have things that we need and want like mobile phones, and we need food. But what do the poor people need and want?

Most of the people in the poorer countries in Africa live in poverty, don't have things that want and need because they are penniless. There are more people live in poverty in parts of Africa than in Brunei, and poverty in Africa is worse than in Brunei.

In Brunei, we have clean water, food, clean clothes and house to live. But in Africa, most of the poor people don't have some or all of that. Most of the poor people in Africa that don't have enough water have to drink dirty water because of thirst.

Some of them die because of hunger and sickness because of the dirty water. From the way they live, I think they feel miserable, misery and unlucky. I hope that I can help them.

Let's make a change

As what we know, some countries in Africa are extremely poor. In Africa, these countries have dirty surroundings, people don’t have place to cook. They only drink dirty water but to them, the water that they drink is clean.  They have clothes but some don’t .

Have you ever bought a new pair of shoes every month? Think about them, did they ever buy a new pair of shoes? Some of them use old torn shoes,  they even used water bottle shoes but most of them don’t have a pair of shoes.

1 child dies in every 3 seconds. 30,000 African children under the age of 5 die everyday.
And Malaria kills 3,000 African children everyday.

Compared to Brunei, Bruneian children are considered lucky, we have clean water, good clothes, food, we even have a very good education, we as Bruneians should feel lucky for what we have. Let’s make a change. Stop wasting your money on buying new shoes, new clothes every month. Feel free to donate to the African people.

Poverty in Brunei and Africa

Some of the countries in Africa are poor. The people that live in the poorer parts of Africa are poor. Brunei is a rich country. Many people in Brunei are rich.

We have food at home but they don't have. We can go to school and buy the uniform and books but they don't go to school. We have house but they don't have house. We have clean water but they don't even have clean water. We have clothes, slippers and jewellery but they have have. We have knowledge by going to school but they don't know how to read and write. We can get computer, mobile phones, radio, television but they maybe don't even listen to music or news. We have cars, bicycles and motorcycles but they don't have because they don't have money to buy them.

We have money to buy things but they have difficulty to find money. We still have a good life, we don't have to do hard work but they have to work to support their lives.

Poverty in Africa vs Poverty in Brunei!

Today April 9th, our teacher taught us about poverty in Africa . She told us about the environment , possessions , appearance and feelings of children of the poorer countries in Africa. As we know that place is very poor. you about the children around there ;)

First of all , I want to tell you , about the surroundings of  the poorer parts of Africa, the place is dirty , there is no place for cooking and the children are homeless, so there is no place for them to cook, sleep and relax. Most of the children live under a bridge and at the side of the road. They wear old clothes. They don’t have money to buy new ones. They don’t have enough food to eat, that’s why they are skinny. At the same time , they don’t have medicine.

Now what they need are houses to live, healthy food, medicine, clean water, new clothes to wear and education.

Lastly I want to tell you , poverty in Brunei. As we know Brunei is the one of the richest countries, not like Republic of Somalia. So nowadays, children in Brunei , they always have what they  want, like laptop, ipod and etc, but most of them never appreciate what they have. We must grateful of what we have.

Comparing Poverty in Africa and in Brunei

Earlier in school, we learned about poverty in Africa. In Africa, there is no place for cooking. The surrounding is very dirty. There is no clean water for them to drink and there is no shelter for them. They only own clothes, a water container, blanket, old tin and pants.

The appearance of the children, they have unhealthy skin, very thin and have wounds. They look so sad, miserable and unlucky because they don't even have clean water. When I looked at the picture, I felt so sad because I couldn't do anything to help them except to donate.

When compared to Brunei, Bruneians are considered lucky. In Brunei, we have clean water. We have good clothes, food, pants, shoes, we even have good education while some of them don't even have any education.
